Abstract

Some people experience intense delusional thoughts and firmly believe them to be true. No matter how much others tell them that these thoughts are mere fantasies and not reality, they will not accept it. These delusional thoughts manifest in various ways. If only delusional thoughts occur, and they affect daily life or mental health, it is called Delusional Disorder. These types of disorders are generally chronic and sometimes last a lifetime. The International Classification of Diseases - 10th Edition (ICD-10) provides the diagnostic guidelines for identifying this disorder. This article discusses in detail the various types of delusions that can occur in delusional disorder and the causes for it.
